TOKYO—A devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 8.9 rocked Japan Friday afternoon, forcing tens of thousands of people to evacuate their homes, killing at least five and triggering a 10-meter tsunami that violently swept away cars and other objects in its path and shutting down phone lines and transportation in most parts of the country.

The quake was originally reported at a magnitude of 7.9 but was later upgraded to 8.9. That makes it the fifth largest recorded world-wide since 1900, according to the U.S. Geological Service, larger than the 7.9-magnitude Great Kanto Earthquake that devastated Tokyo in 1923 or the 6.8 magnitude quake that hit Kobe in 1995. A 33ft tsunami has killed at least 19 people as it swept over Japan’s northeastern coast after a 8.9 magnitude megaquake near the capital Tokyo

The huge wave hit the port of Sendai city, sending ships crashing into the shore and carrying cars and buildings through streets.

Mass evacuations are taking place after tsunami warnings were issued for the entire Pacific coast.

And the tsunami set off by the quake is currently higher than some Pacific islands it could wash over, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said.

STUDY CONFIRMS SUPER-ROTATION AT EARTH’S CORE FASTER THAN REST OF PLANET

Research Gives Credibility To Shorter Days Seen In Book Of Revelation

New research, published this week in Nature, gives the first accurate estimate of how much faster the Earth’s core is rotating compared to the rest of the planet.

The inner core of the Earth, its innermost hottest part as detected by seismological studies, is a primarily solid sphere about 1,216 km (760 mi) in radius, or about 70% that of the Moon. It is believed to consist of an iron-nickel alloy, and may have a temperature similar to the Sun’s surface, approximately 5778 K (5505 °C).

The British research paper shows that, although the inner core is 5200km beneath our feet, the effect of its presence is especially important on the Earth’s surface. In particular, as the inner core grows, the heat released during solidification drives convection in the fluid in the outer core. This convection is thought to generate the Earth’s geomagnetic field. Without our magnetic field, the surface would not be protected from solar radiation, and life on the Earth would not be in danger of extinction.

Editor’s Note: About 15 years ago, Christian Media suggested the faster core spin rate may have a relationship to a key prophecy in Revelation which predicts a profound increase in the rotation of the world. During the tribulational cycle which occurs at the end of the age, the Scriptures tells us the day and night is to be shortened by one third:

“And the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise” (Revelation 8:12)

Most observers misread this passage as some sort of partial eclipse, but the prophecy is telling us the world will increase its rotational rate, and a complete cycle will actually be 16 hours — or a reduction of one third, moving the world to .666% of its prior rotation. A confirmation of this astonishing turn of events is found in Jesus Christ’s statement

“Except those days were shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” (Matthew 24:22)

With a markedly shorter day, calendars would be disrupted, people would be significantly older as their birthdays would repeat faster, and all life on the planet would be radically altered. This is precisely what was referenced when Jesus said the end would be similar to the days of Noah — a time when people lived much longer:

“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Matthew 24:37)

The need for a calendar reform is also associated with a planetary wide crisis,which gives rise to a consensus based global government, headed by a an evil figure commonly thought to be the Antichrist:

“And he shall speak great words against the most High…and think to change times and laws….” (Daniel 7:25)
